This hardy Haleconia aka "Lobster Claw" performs well outdoors in Northern NZ.  It looks great in the understory with its lush green foliage, not to mention the stunning red and yellow flowers through summer and into Autumn.  It has a spreading nature so be sure to select a suitable site.  It performs and looks best in a part shaded position with protection from the wind.
